impact and charm
1955 Cadillac Series 62

The Series 62 was produced by Cadillac from 1940 through 1964, spanning 7 generations. Originally designed to replace the entry level Series 65, it became the Cadillac Series 6200 in 1959, and remained that until it was renamed to Cadillac Calais for the 1965 model year.
Our car is fourth generation, which ran from '54 to '56. The 1954 model year was big for Cadillac in general due to the redesign of the basic Series 62 model. The new Caddy was lower, sleeker, with wraparound windshields and exhaust tips. Few changes appeared in 1955, except that the standard 331-cid V-8 engine received a boost to 250 horsepower. The grille was redesigned with wider spaces between the blades and the parking lamps were re-positioned directly below the headlights.
